Are you looking for a registered Colorado Midwife, who serves all kinds of families around Longmont, Boulder, and the Front Range, who will trust you, listen to you, and work collaboratively with you to make decisions about your care? If you are interested in home birth or you would like to learn about the Midwives Model of Care, check out the information below, and contact Kassia Walcott for a free consultation at our office in Longmont, Colorado. We serve Boulder, Weld and Larimer counties.
Knowledgeable Prenatal CareMost of our appointments will take place at the Singing Tree Midwifery office in downtown Longmont. Our appointments last anywhere from 45-60+ minutes, depending on your needs, wishes, and stage of pregnancy. Routine labs are included as part of your holistic care, and additional labs can be run for a minimal fee. Ultrasounds are done as needed right in our office, and can be included in your midwifery fee at cost. Concerns? I won't hesitate to consult with a physician. All the midwifery care you receive is provided from a holistic perspective, utilizing a combination of alternative, traditional approaches and more mainstream, medically-based options. We make decisions together, and nothing is done without your fully informed consent.

Skilled Labor & Birth AssistanceImagine feeling completely supported as you labor in the familiar, comforting surroundings of your own home. You may desire a quiet, dimly lit room filled only by the soft voice of your partner. You may imagine a loving circle of sisters, mothers, and friends all encouraging you as you birth your baby. Whatever you choose, your midwife is by your side or very nearby, monitoring your safety, checking on your baby, and providing comfort measures and reassurance during your home birth. The newborn exam is done right by your side. We clean up while you enjoy a good meal, wrap up in your favorite robe, and snuggle down for a long nap in the cozy family bed.
What if things don't go as expected? Midwives are trained to recognize the early signs of problems and to know when to transfer to a hospital for the next level of care. As a midwife, I carry supplies and equipment for use in an emergency, and I only work with assistants who are also trained in neonatal resuscitation and other emergency skills. |
Dedicated Postpartum SupportAfter your natural home birth, I will check on you and your new baby regularly. You can call me with any concerns, or email me with questions, at anytime. We will have regular postpartum visits for a full six weeks - at your home for at least the first three weeks, and back at my office once you are ready. Every visit will include all the aspects of well-baby care that you would receive in a medical office, plus lots of extra care for you, as you heal, process, and adjust to your new role. As a midwife, I can provide you with breastfeeding support, ideas for getting good sleep, dietary suggestions, or whatever you may need. If it's outside my scope, I will refer you to the right person, whether that's a lactation consultant, a postpartum doula, or a physician. I hope to be an enduring part of your family's growing community of support.
